Minor tasks narrative & branding

For my project, my major task is the music video, and my minor tasks will be a digipak and an Instagram profile. Even though these are different types of media products, they should still feel connected. This means they should share the same visual style and branding so that the audience can clearly recognise that they all belong to the same project.

One important element I want to keep consistent across all three products is the beach setting. In my music video, most scenes will take place at the beach with long cinematic shots of the ocean and the shoreline. Because of this, I want most of the photos used in the digipak and Instagram posts to also be taken at the beach. This could include images of the ocean, waves, sand and the main character walking along the shoreline. Using the same location will help maintain the narrative and atmosphere created in the music video. Also other type of photos could be included like behind-the-scenes.

Another key element is the colour palette. Since I plan to film the music video during sunset, the visuals will include warm colours such as yellow, orange, light blue and beige from the sand. I would like to use the same colours in the digipak design and Instagram posts. This could be done through the photos themselves or through simple design elements and backgrounds. Keeping the same colours will help create a consistent aesthetic and branding.

The mood of the project is also very important. The music video will have a reflective and emotional atmosphere, with slow shots and beach scenery. I want the digipak and Instagram profile to communicate the same feeling. For example, the digipak cover could feature a photo of the beach at sunset, possibly with the main character looking out at the ocean. The Instagram profile could include similar images, such as stills from the music video, beach landscapes, captions that fit and photos made during the process.

In terms of photography style, I want to use wide shots and natural lighting. These types of images would work well both in the music video and in the digipak design. On the Instagram page, I could also post behind-the-scenes photos from the beach shoot, short clips or still frames from the video to promote the project and keep the narrative connected.

Finally, the overall branding should remain simple and consistent. I want the designs to feel minimal and natural, reflecting the indie style of the song “Riptide.”
